K D Lathar
‘Draw a story in lines, plot its progress in oils, and bring the conflict to a head with brush strokes.’
Kamal D Lathar is a self-taught artist and published writer. He was born in India where the land, its spices, its colours and vibrancy of life all weaved their hypnotic and magical spell into the way Kamal paints, without fear or boundaries. As he says, ‘the only thing that scares me is an empty canvas.’
The paintings usually evolve around some inner story that starts the first stroke, and finishes with a dialog with the light. There was probably some good food and drink and conversation to be had in between.
His art can be found in numerous places in the UK, Germany and Vienna. There is a permanent display of his works at the Spice Lounge, a restaurant in Summertown, Oxford where every alcove features one of his paintings, trying to enrich the experiences of the diners with the warmth of colours surrounding them.
He is a prolific writer too. His fantasy series, The Changeling Saga, with the first two volumes, The Changeling and The Eternal Well - can be found in Waterstones, Amazon and in book collectibles. He is currently working on the third volume, The Jat’s Jungle, a detective romance and a self-help book.
